In Greek mythology, Apollo gave Cassandra the gift of prophecy. When she rejected him, he cursed her so that whenever she spoke the truth, no one would believe her. She predicted the Trojan Horse. She was right about everything and was ignored every time. And the world suffered for it.
On the other side of that world lived Pythia, the Oracle of Delphi. People believed the gods spoke through her, so they listened, prepared, and transformed their lives by trusting her words.
Same gift. Opposite outcomes. The difference was never the speaker. It was always the listener.
I have spent time with many Gurus and witnessed the same pattern: the same wisdom offered equally to everyone. Yet some were transformed, while others remained unchanged.
Years later, as a mentor, I understood: it is not about the Guru but the mindset the disciple carries.
A mind that surrenders makes the Guru an oracle. A mind that judges makes the Guru a Cassandra. You hear everything, know everything, and still suffer because you cannot trust the very truth you hear.
Destiny (your past karma) decides when you should be receptive and when you should resist so that it can execute what it has already written without disruption from a Guru.
This is the one unspoken, paradoxical curse that no Guru can fully break until the disciple surrenders.
