Illustrative lettering poster with the quote “Those who ask you with concern ‘Why aren’t you famous?’” by SCD Balaji featuring a young wizard performing a magic show inside a dome while a few children cheer and clap with excitement. Outside the dome, several envious onlookers secretly peek through small holes, quietly watching the performance without appreciating or supporting it, symbolizing spectators versus genuine supporters.
The most Frequently Asked Questions of my life is
"Why aren't you famous? For your talent and hard work, you should be at the top of the world. You deserve more than what you are."
My unanswered honest reply to them is:
I am more than where I should be, and I feel overwhelmed with what I have been offered by the divine. More than all of the above, I measure my success and failure based on my vision, goals and milestones. It is impossible for me to be in the place where everyone expects me to be.
But I can't say so to those who express love, respect and care, so I gently smile.
That being said, I am also surprised that over 20 years, most of the people who raise this question are the ones who never endorse, refer or even engage in a social media post. Yet they ask this question with love and concern.
Over the years, I empathize and understand why they choose to be silent spectators and not supporters. I respect their decision and embrace it. Because, the divine has also blessed me with quite a lot of silent supporters who have been standing with me for years, despite the challenging times.
Are you a supporter or a silent spectator?
