Wise and smart have wrestled within us since the day Ganesha won the mango by circling his parents against Karthikeya. We praise children as "smart", rarely as "wise", because we have collectively mistaken smartness for success.
But smartness is often a skill for survival, not a path to joy. Many smart people learn how to win quickly, speak cleverly, negotiate sharply and protect their pride. They survive well, yet live restlessly.
Wisdom carries a stranger discipline. The wise refuse the easy win even where smartness would deliver an instant reward. They choose the slower path that preserves vision, relationships and inner peace. Smart rushes for the season. Wise waits for the harvest.
And the truth is, both live inside us. Need can summon the smart. Nature can invite the wise. Life is the art of knowing which voice to obey.
And yet, no one begins there.
To be old and wise, you must first be young and Stupid (Smart).
To be old and wise, you must first be young and Stupid (Smart).
Which side do you already belong to: Ganesha or Karthikeya? Not who you wish to be, but who you are, before the thought arrives.
One circled the universe. One circled what mattered. Both won something.
The question is, what are you circling in your life right now?
Are you smart or wise?
Are you smart or wise?
