Illustrative lettering poster with the quote “Entrepreneurship is a Sacred Service of a soul’s calling.” – SCD Balaji, featuring a warm, uplifting scene of entrepreneurs in elegant suits gracefully presenting their products to happy, engaged consumers in a pleasant environment. In the distant sky above the clouds, a contrasting vision unfolds where people are seen running out of a fire exit door labeled “emPLOYment,” symbolizing a shift from survival-driven work to purpose-led creation.
Have you noticed that most of our choices aren’t made from love, passion, joy or the spirit of giving, but from fear, inability, rage and other impulses?
To quote a few: some people romanticize independence or solitude because they don’t have anyone to depend on. Some couples want children not to share love and joy, but for social status. Some reject God not out of rationality, but out of hurt, because God didn’t show up when they most needed help. Most of us even choose careers simply because we aren’t aware of other possibilities. And the list goes on…
Especially in India, the most-heard monologue from an employee is:
“I can’t work under someone like this. I’d fit better as an entrepreneur. It’s time to start my own business.”
I’ve been on both sides. With the “escape” mindset, business will punish you harder than any job ever could. You may survive as self-employed. You won’t become a visionary entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship is the art of expressing love through service and product, giving people what they’re missing, even while you carry your own personal and business challenges. And that will happen only when you’re serving the world through your soul’s calling, not escaping employment.
So what is your soul calling you toward?
