Illustrative lettering poster with the quote “The ‘Realization’ you gain in adversity is an Escape Mechanism…” by SCD Balaji features a playful scene of a small Indian schoolboy covered in mud, standing near a puddle and confidently declaring, “I’m all clean now, and I promise I’ll never get dirty again. I learned my lesson!” Nearby, a group of schoolgirls laugh with amused expressions. This visualisation portrays humor and innocence to symbolize temporary realisation versus lasting transformation.
Have you heard these phrases from others or even from yourself?
"Now only I have realized this…" "I will never let this happen again…" "My life is transformed in this moment…"
Every single time I hear these words, I believe them innocently. Even when I say it to myself. :)
And almost every single time, it proves to be not self realization, but simply the mind's escape mechanism, a way to flee from guilt, shame, pain and chaos in that moment. These phrases temporarily make us feel safe and comfortable.
But the moment life returns to normality, we fall into the same suffering again and again. It is a spiral.
Real realization happens through a change of belief. And a belief only changes through actions, not through a simple thought.
My simple suggestion is whenever you feel a life transforming realisation, don't rush to express or egoistically flaunt it. Wait. Let the universe offer you the same situation again. Your response to the situation will mirror your realisation. Real transformation need not be announced, people can see and feel it.
And if you truly want to honour it, create a simple 40 or 90 Day Habit Tracking Sheet. Write down your gained Realisation. Track it daily. The truth will reveal itself.
Let’s Practice Wisdom, not speak.
