If you are already in a proper gym routine, why do you need to fake being fit? If you are eating clean every day, why do you need to fake being healthy? If you are really dissolving into solitude every day, why do you need to fake being self-reliant?
There is a unique pattern I have noticed in people who perform confidence more than they practice it. They make sure not to interact, collaborate or keep company with anyone who will break their mirage. Not even someone who might genuinely help them.
The act of faking becomes the primary cornerstone of their lives. The fear of maintaining the mirage grows; along with it, even more fear, doubt and anxiety grow as well.
But here is my honest question.
Imagine a person who is a nervous communicator, scared of judgment, faking confidence in front of peers and family for years. Then one day, they are genuinely communicating well.
Will their mind believe it is real? Or, having faked for so long, will it perceive even the truth as just another performance?
And if the faking works, will they carry it into every other accomplishment for the rest of their life? Will this make their whole life a lie?
Because somewhere along the way, they chose faking as a sacred virtue.
